A Ceremony of Carols

junior doctor

Following on from our sold-out event at Cambridge last year, which raised over £2000 for our Bursary Appeal, we have planned a similar occasion in Oxford, around another promising performance by our wonderful NHEHS choir, which is taking place on on Thursday 5th February 2026.

That afternoon, members of our Choir are performing A Ceremony of Carols at St Mary Magdalen Church, in the heart of Oxford. This most joyful and popular of Benjamin Britten's works, which was originally performed in 1942 by an all-women choir, blends Medieval texts with evocative melodies, accompanied by the harp. We are in for a treat!

Before this magical performance, which is open to the general public, you are warmly invited to share in a private, elegant two-course Spring lunch with wine in a beautiful Oxford University venue, within walking distance of St Mary's Magdalen.

After lunch, over coffee, you will enjoy an engaging introduction to the work by an expert in our Music Department. We will then head to the charming church of St Mary's Magdalen to listen to the girls’ performance.

Places for the exclusive lunch and concert event are very limited and can be booked for £49 each. On the day, in keeping with our values and strategic priorities to keep our education accessible to as many talented young women as we can, you will be invited to make a donation to the Bursary Appeal of whatever size you wish. All gifts make a difference and are gratefully received.

If you wish to join us on this special afternoon of fine music, food, wine and company, aimed at giving some of the most disadvantaged, yet most promising, young women the chance of an aspirational NHEHS education, please book your place by New Year's Eve, after which date tickets will be opened to all our community. If you have any further questions do not hesitate to email one of us.
